LOG Week 7

So far this week I have had three main tasks:

1.) Translate the Bau- und Immobilienplattform into English and make sure print settings are "fit to page"

2.) Work on creating more linked facts on the fcs.kundeplattform.com especially usuing the Glossary page as a guide as to what to put in.  Also put more onto the glossary if you feel something needs to be explained further.

3.) Publish the new references after you get the Okay from the companies.  Talk with Claudia over it.

I started with looking at the kundes platform and looking through the glossary and the different user guides.  After looking through it there really wasn't all that much that needed to be changed or even be further explained for that matter.  I did add in some links here and there that had been missed but other than that I really didn't need to do much.  It was difficult though because there is a lot of information held on this website about how the platform actually works.  So I had to sift through a lot of information which also makes it harder to concentrate when you feel like you are overwhelmed with information.

I talked with Claudia over the new references that I had translated and put links into.  She said I did a good job of it but we still have to wait to hear from one of the companies to get the okay to put it on our website, so for now all we can do is just wait to hear from the company.

After that I started to translate the 2 pages of the Bau and Immobielien platforms.  Translating has gotten much easier for me as I can start to look at the whole sentence not just one word at a time.  I still have to look up a lot of words but I feel like I am benefiting a lot from translating things here at factline.  I also like to take what is translated and then make it sound better because German and English are two seperate languages and don't always translate directly to what makes sense in the other language.

I finished the english version and I think it looks good, basically the same as the German but with English instead.  I still had to size everything up right and make sure there wasn't any blank space that could have been used up.  Overall I think it will meet Max's needs.  I also happened to read over the German text that Max had wrote and found several errors in spelling.  I never would have thought that I would be correcting someones German when they were a native to the language!
